Weather and Seamanship

CPS is preparing a new series of courses on Weather and Seamanship.  The first in the series: “Weather and Seamanship: Near Shore Winds and Waves” will be available in the next few months.  Versions targeted at specific areas (for example, the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Great Lakes) will follow.

Most of the illustrations are borrowed from information provided by Environment Canada. If you’re interested in an excellent review of maritime weather including its effect on near shore winds and waves, check out Environment Canada’s MET-101 Site.

Also, the CPS maintains a Facebook page about maritime weather titled Boaters’ Weather Wisdom.  It amazing photographs, information about weather phenomena and the latest research, and a few touches of humour.
